Integral Psychiatry and Suboxone

I own and operate a mental health clinic where we treat clients with a new medication called Suboxone, an opioid replacement that is four parts bruprenorphine and one part naloxone. It's abuse potential is low, only treating withdrawal symptoms., and inducing withdrawal if too much is taken.

Some recovery people believe cold turkey is the only way to go so that one remembers the pain associated with active addiction. Others are more interested in relieving pain to get the person functioning again and work on developing a healthier adaptation to life.

The tyranny of "either/or" stops engagement and thinking, and tends to shut down the inquiry into what is best practice for each and every person. I'm interested in Mr. Wilber's thoughts about how one breaks through this morass to get it right with both clients and other helping professionals when people tend to square off into these camps.

I couldn't imagine going cold turkey off oxy or other opiate pain killers. I've checked into a suboxone treatment program near me which has been extremely helpful in breaking my addiction. The only thing I did go cold turkey on were cigarettes, i did get sick or felt sick at least for a couple of days/weeks but it would be no
