Photography in Living Color

My approach to photography is natural and documents life as it is happening, and I am especially fond of my studies of shadows and reflections. I also write about most of my pieces which you can read 'Artist Insight' link on many of the photos.

Thank you for taking a look at my work.

Sincerely,

Lori A. Brookes

Trans-Expressionist Artist

I began my career in art as an Abstract Impressionist painter. My impressions of nature, usually landscapes, became abstract forms on the canvas. Years later, through my inner journeys to my Self, I became an Abstract Expressionist painter. My abstract forms became an expression of my inner Self’s experiences. In recent years I realize that I have become what I call a Trans-Expressionist artist. In my meditation, or in the state I enter when I paint, the ego dissolves. In the past I would be guided by my inner Self, what I came to call my Higher Self (as I came to know my Higher Self). My Higher Self lives totally in the moment. Unlike the ego, it does not filter or interpret information. My Higher Self communicates a message that describes the ongoing process of my transformation as an artist, in the moment, from now to now as the brush moves across the canvas. This is the transformative expression.

submissions for integral artists.

For the last little while I have been wondering how to submit my paintings, for the integral community to see. This is brilliant.

Art

Hi, My name is Brit Miller.
Well I make childrens books and other art for anyone who would like to see it. Here is a link below to some of my work. I love creating but don't do it enough. I would love to be a featured artist on integral life/naked/anything for that matter. I think if this comes through me then it is informed by my consciousness or the consciousness I claim to be mine...it will have integral elements because that is where I am trying to land. You could say I always create in a primitive way but my inspiration comes from some place very complex...
Enjoy!

Closed Doors: Assassinations and Altitude Sickness

Closed Doors is an integral art project I first presented at SWAA, the Southwestern Anthropological Association symposium. The project itself is created from a door, but it also exists as an interactive website,

The project explores the idea of doorways in two ways. First, it explores the way in which worldcentric voices, worldcentric doorways, like Dr. King, Ghandi, JFK, RFK, Chico Mendes, etc., who have invited us to reach into greater realms of love have been effectively closed, as the people have been murdered.

Second, the project explores the future of art, as technologically integrated art. Closed Doors exists both as a physical art piece, like the classic paintings and sculptures of yesteryear, but also as an interactive website, where greater depths of understanding can be reached. (By clicking on any persons face on the door website, one is transfered to a page with quotes and biographic information.)

The abstract I submitted for the SWAA symposium is below.

"Closed Doors is an integral art project which seeks to explore assassination and its relation to what Ken Wilber calls 'Altitude Sickness.' 'Altitude Sickness' refers to the tendency of some people at shallower levels of interior development (using the developmental psychological models of Keegan, Loevinger, Maslow, Gilligan, Kholberg, Graves, etc) to react violently to ideas presented from deeper levels of consciousness. This presentation will discuss why worldcentric voices like Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Alexander Litvinenko, and so many others have been assassinated by egocentric or ethnocentric individuals or organizations simply for working to improve the conditions of life on this planet. This presentation will also address the cross-cultural validity of the developmental models used within. The presentation will be integrally linked to the this years SWAA theme, specially Transitions, Framing the Past, and Imagining the Future.

The art project, Closed Doors, itself is a 3'x6' door, which will be used as a poster. In addition to the physical project, Closed Doors, exists as an interactive website, where one can explore the faces on the door, leading to a small biography, and a small collection of quotes. The web address for the project, which includes an interactive picture of the physical door is, “http://www.empyreanimago.110mb.com/closeddoors/door.htm”."

G'Day

The relentless study a experiential pursuit of human consciousness has exuberantly consumed a great deal of my life. I love, yoga. I love mediation, I love scriptural studies, and most importantly I have zealous love for life and being alive. Through the lens of integrative consciousness, I see and experience uncommon perspectives or at least the familiar in unfamiliar ways..... this is advantageous in the art of photography.

An unbridled passion and fascination for the natural world compels and ignites my creative expression. Through the creative lens of photography, I capture the exquisite integration and beautifully torrent dance of nature. I use my photography as an artistic vessel in which to awaken and connect viewers. To kindle a conscious or unconscious recognition of how nature so perfectly expresses and reflects the natural rhythms required to live in harmony amidst incessant change.

Enjoy, Shane

integral Artist's

Hi Fellow Integral Artist's,

This is great to connect, artist's can get isolated and I love the integral aspect . I'm currently working on my MFA in Painting, I'm studying abstract. I have broad range of art skills in different mediums. I do have a web-site but it needs updating, hopefully by July. I can post attachments of new works here via e-mail. I have been incorporating spiritual practice with my art since the seventies.

Integral Art

Dear Corey and the Integral Community:

I have watched with great interest the art work posted on Integral Naked. Although most of the work is beautiful, interesting and technically excellent, is it integral? How does one define integral art? Or are you simply looking for art that obviously expresses the divine?

In my humble opinion, I feel that as an artist progresses through his/her career and grows in consciousness, both spiritually and culturally, that his/her work will become more and more subtle. From my perspective, I know of only two artists on the planet who's work I would call integral, James Turrell and Andy Goldsworthy. Admittedly, I haven't seen all the art being produced, but I feel these two artists can guide the integral community in it's search for excellence, transcendence and brilliance in the art world.

With love and gratitude to the I-I community,
Kate

Art as Skin for Community

We have enormous power as artists to transform our world. Beauty stops the mind. We use our creative inspiration and expression as a new kind of natural renewable resource. Beyond fossil fuel, we have a fire that needs no wood. This fire WILL transform everything it touches.

"Alive-tricity" is what I will call our integral artistic energy. Guided by intuition, fueled by inspiration and connected to the whole living earth. It IS the clear light of Life.

The 21st century is a time of relational action. We work together with other like-selves.

"Twin Wings" is what I will call our integral partnership. One wing cannot fly as high as two. Together we soar into new heights.

"Floating Paintings" are a collection of 6 foot traveling art that circulates the globe, as "skin" for community. Distinct from art as object or thing, art as skin for community's purpose is to inspire, connect and transform. For more information:

Art Without the Artist?

Can there be art without the artist? Apparently, there can. As remarkable as it sounds, these watercolors 'self-create', without the benefit of an ‘artist’. In fact, to even make eye contact with the painting before it was ‘done’ usually spoiled the results – no images would be appear. Once the images present themselves, I assist in defining them more clearly – usually by tidying up a line or removing a dab of color. Nothing more.

As bizarre as their creation may sound, it is true. Though gifted in other artistic venues, I assure you that I am not a good enough watercolorist to have produced any of these. Wish that I were. ‘Technique’ (if it can be called that) is described in detail on the site. What do they mean? Do they mean anything? That is for the viewer to say. These images are as remarkable to me as they may seem to you. I hope you enjoy them, and are equally inspired at the unknown potential that rests both within and without us.

Visit my website at http://www.unasleep.com and click on 'Self-Created Watercolors'. Then click on the movie reel to take a brief video tour of that painting (recommended), or click on the magnifying glass to see close-up images. Viewers may also enjoy some of my short videos on enlightenment, also found on the website.
